The Janney Type E semi-automatic couplers are printed in PLA (polylactic acid plastic) on my 3D printer. It’s a cheapie from Aldi that does the job; the surface finish is good, but not brilliant. I have used Lightwave 3D to design most of the 3D objects for the model, but the couplers are from a 3D library. Although not in Lightwave’s .obj format, they loaded into Lightwave OK so I was able to modify them to suit. The surrounding coupler mounts are created in Lightwave. More on using Lightwave and 3D printing later.
