Wireframe rendering in Lightwave

To render the X31 locomotive as wireframe using Lightwave 3D Layout, these were my settings.

First I changed all the surfaces to white.

Then applied these settings in the Render window:

Then set the camera properties for the required render size, and changed some other settings to suit, and made a few test renders and tweaked the adjustments to get the desired result.

Once the render was complete, I saved it as an RGB image with an Alpha Channel to get a transparent background. LW_TIFF32(.tif), or any other 32 bit image format will do.

Open it in Photoshop (or another program that supports layers) – the render should have a transparent background (indicated in Photoshop by the checkerboard)

Add a background layer and fill it with white; if the lines need darkening, this can be done by applying a Curves Adjustment Layer (non-destructive)

The result
